about the self i am

Inner-dimensional Art I paint in mixed water media. My interests in archetypes, auras, chakras, crystals, gardening, poetry, spiritual growth and the inner child are reflected in my paintings.

When I paint, I prefer either a square or circular format because it more easily draws me inside the painting. Once inside, the painting paints itself. It chooses the colors and the forms. I have no idea of the whys and whats until the painting finishes.

Painting makes me feel peaceful, excited and in awe of the universe. And the act of painting keeps me in the present moment. My favorite thing about my work is that I see something new in it every time I look at it. And everyone who views it sees something different, something meaningful to their own experiences. Nothing is static.

Of The Earth   As a Master Gardner of the Tulare-Kings Counties California Cooperative Extension, my interests include farmers’ markets, square foot and container gardening of vegetables and citrus trees, composting, vermiculture, plant propagation, school gardens, gardening for individual with limited mobility, gardening for relaxation and mental clarity.

Being a Botanist as well as a member of the California Native Plant Society, I am also interested in native plants and their uses, including drought tolerant landscapes. And I enjoy learing about those strange sounding Latin plant names!

Of Energy I am a USUI/TIBETAN REIKI MASTER trained in both Western and Japanese Reiki techniques and also hold advanced degrees in biological sciences and education.

The word Reiki in Shinjital Japanese meaing “mysterious atmosphere/spiritual power” has been translated by Western practictioners as “universal life energy.” The Ki is said to equivalent to the Chi of the Chinese and and Parana of the Hindu.

Reiki is primarily used to balance, align, and harmonize the human energy fields of the aura and the chakras. This leads to relaxation, stress reduction, and increased feelings of vitality and awareness. Reiki functions on the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels.

In Western Reiki, it is taught that Reiki works in conjunction with the meridian energy lines and chakras and uses hand-positions which correspond to the seven major chakras on the body. The concept of the chakras is not used in Traditional Japanese Reiki which concentrates more on treating specific areas of the body using techniques such as Byosen-ho and Reiji-ho, and breath. In Western Reiki emphasis in placed upon treatment of other first and self treatment second. Originally in Japan emphasis was upon self treatment and awareness while treatment of others was secondary.
